Guonjarjohka (Kuonjarjoki) Reservable Wilderness Hut

The hut is located on an open fell in the Käsivarsi Wilderness Area, approximately a 20 km hike or ski from Kilpisjärvi. The wilderness hut is situated south of the Kahperusvaara Hills on the north bank of the River Kuonjarjoki which runs between the Kahperusvaara Hills and Guonjarvárri Fell. The hut is suitable for hikers and skiers on Nordkalott Trail.

Reservable huts are meant for those travelling by foot, skis or other means of physical movement (not motorized vehicles). These huts may be used for 1 to 2 days by those who have reserved a bed in advance. Commercial use (i.e. guided hikes and tours etc.) of reservable huts is only allowed with special permission from Metsähallitus.

Price and keys
16,50 € / night / person (incl. VAT 10%).
Keys for the hut can be picked up from the Kilpisjärvi Visitor Centre and when the visitor centre is closed from the customs station of Kilpisjärvi, tel. int +358 295 527 007 (open 24 hours).
Facilities
A stove and a gas cooker. Basic cookware (pot, frying pan, coffee pot). Bunk beds with mattresses, pillows and blankets. A dry toilet and a woodshed outside the hut. Please note that it takes some time before the hut is properly warm.
Notices
Ski touring season runs from March to April. In the summer, the recommended time for hiking is from the beginning of July to the beginning of September.
Pets are not permitted in the hut.
The building also houses an open wilderness hut for 10 persons.
Visitors must come prepared with warm clothing, food, drink, maps, compass, orienteering skills and matches. Fog or storms can form in just a few hours. Take also your own toilet paper.
Firewood should only be used for heating the cabin, not for outdoor fires.
Waste Management
Metsähallitus follows the principles of litter-free hiking. Visitors are adviced to bring their own waste out of the area. Recycling points can be found at Yllästunturi, Pallastunturi and Fell Lapland Visitor Centre. Read more about Hiking without Littering.
