Svartholma Sea Fortress

Aerial view of an island with a sea fortress.

In the mazes and on the walls of Svartholma, visitors can experience the fortress' isolation for themselves, and imagine foreign troops approaching on the horizon. Time-travel to the year 1808: Russians attack across the border of the Kingdom of Sweden and besiege Svartholma, which is forced to surrender to the enemy. This signifies a transfer of power in Finland and the eastern flag is hoisted over Svartholma. The beautiful natural environment and fresh sea wind at the fortress will return you to the present day.
