Mádjohka Open Wilderness Hut (so called Madjoki)

The wilderness hut is situated in the northern part of Kevo Strict Nature Reserve on the eastern shore of River Davimuš Mádjjohsuorg (one of the tributaries of River Mádjoki), in a place where Brook Borgebeaskaavd joins it.

This log cabin, which is in excellent condition, was built in 1964.

  • A wood-burning stove and a gas cooker. A dry toilet.

Notices

  • Pets are permitted in the hut, but only if other visitors consent to it.
  • The open wilderness hut is in public use only during the winter season 16.10.–30.4. In other times there are restrictions placed on hiking in the strict nature reserve. During the month of April you must choose your route so that you do not enter the gorge area to the east of the wilderness hut as it is forbidden to enter this area 1.4.–15.6.
  • Safety on hiking.
  • There are no waste management services at the hut. Hikers are adviced to bring their own waste out of the area. Read more about Hiking Without Littering.
