Arctic Circle Hiking Area

Two people, one of whom is walking a dog, are hiking on a path in a rocky terrain in the middle of a forest.

An illustration of the emblem of Arctic Circle Hiking Area. In the oval-shaped emblem there are two persons, an adult and a child, looking at a landscape of hills and a river, with red sun above it.Here you can cross the Arctic Circle and experience the wilds of Lapland just outside Rovaniemi, the home of Santa Claus. Stroll to the fine falls at Vaattunkiköngäs and Vikaköngäs. There are also accessible nature trails in the area. The river offers excellent fishing opportunities. Winter wanderers can explore the hiking area's forests and open marshes on skis or snowshoes.

The area is managed by Metsähallitus, Parks & Wildlife Finland.
