The cabin has has a sturdy table and benches in front of the window. Under the other window is a narrow bed and a bench. The windows have curtains.

There is a fireplace in front of the stone-clad firewall. Next to it is a small table top with coffee pots and pots. The doorway opens to a room with narrow bunk beds.

The kitchen corner has top and bottom cupboards and on a side-level there are pots. In front of the window there is a sturdy table with benches and in the other corner there is a wide bunk bed.

The hut is located on the northwest shore of Lake Keimiöjärvi, in the Pallas-Yllästunturi National Park. The hut is suitable for visitors hiking or skiing who want to reserve the entire hut for their own group. Thanks to its location, the hut is suitable for aurora borealis photographers, among others. The most popular time is winter and spring. In the winter it should be kept in mind that there is no maintained ski track by the hut.

The rental hut is situated on the northwest shore of Lake Keimiöjärvi, about 17 km from Pallas and 9 km from Rauhala. The rental hut is about 4 km from Koivarova parking area.

Take road 79 (Kittilä - Muonio) and at the village of Rauhala turn onto road 9572 in the direction of Jeris. Then drive to Koivarova parking area on the boundary of Pallas-Yllästunturi National Park. From the parking area you can in the summer hike and in the winter ski the 4 km to the rental hut.

There are daily coaches between Rovaniemi, Kittilä and Muonio. Some of these coaches drive by Jeris and Koivarova parking area. Timetables (matkahuolto.fi).

Price and Keys

250 € / day or 1500 € / week (incl. VAT 10%).

Keys can be picked up from Pallastunturi Visitor Centre. Check out at 12 am.

Facilities

Wood stove heating, candle lightning, gas hot plate, outdoor dry toilet, a wood shed. Basic cookware and tableware. Matresses, pillows and blankets. NB! Please, take your own sheets and pillowcase to protect your bedding. Please note that it takes some time before the hut is properly warm.

There is a sauna in a separate building.

Water can be taken from the spring or from the lake. If the spring freezes, a melted spot can be found at the shore of the lake from where the spring falls.

The water in lake Kemiöjärvi is good quality, although rain and algal blooms could have affected the water's brightness. Water quality has been tracked since 2004.

Notices

Pets are not permitted in the hut.

Visitors must come prepared with warm clothing, food, drink, maps, compass, orienteering skills and matches. Fog or storms can form in just a few hours. Take also your own toilet paper.

Safety on hiking

Waste Management

There are no waste management services at the hut. The goal of the National Park is to be a litter-free area and hikers are adviced to bring their own waste out of the area. Recycling points can be found at Yllästunturi Visitor Centre Kellokas, Pallastunturi Visitor Centre and Fell Lapland Visitor Centre. Read more about Hiking Without Littering.
