Suomu House, Rental Hut
No more reservations can be made for 2024. Exceptionally, reservations for 2025 will only open on 26 November 2024 at 9 a.m. at Eraluvat.fi
Rental hut, 14 beds and extra mattresses, a total of 20 people, about 150 m². There are two rooms and a kitchen downstairs and two rooms and a hallway upstairs.

The Suomu house was formerly the home of a forest ranger. An atmospheric and spacious accommodation in the luminous Suomu yard. The house is furnished and decorated. The kitchen is downstairs, and there are lodging spaces both downstairs and upstairs. The rooms are heated with wood.

The house is located in the middle of the Patvinsuo National Park in the immediate vicinity of the Suomu Nature Information Hut.
From Lieksa: Take main road 73 then on the south side of Lieksa turn onto road 522 (Pankakoski - Ilomantsi). Follow this road for 39 km through Hatunkylä Village to road 5202 (Kivilahti - Kitsi). At the intersection turn towards Uimaharju; the direction shown for Patvinsuo National Park. Drive this road for about 15 km at which point there is an intersection with signs to the National Park and nature information hut (luontotupa) and turn left. It is about 6 km to the Suomu house from the intersection.
From Joensuu: Take main road 73. At Uimaharju round-about turn onto road 5160. Follow this road for 16 km and then turn right onto road 5202 (Kivilahti - Kitsi). There are signposts to Patvinsuo National Park along this road. Follow the road for about 20 km at which point you will arrive at an intersection with signs direction you to the nature information hut (luontotupa). It is about 6 km to the Suomu house from the intersection.
A coach travels from Uimaharju to Kivilahti.

Price
Room 1-4 persons 100 €/day (or 500 €/week)
The whole downstairs 180 €/day (or 800 €/week)
The whole Suomu house 280 €/day (or 1000 €/week)
The sauna by the lake: Basic fee 30 €/2 hours (additional hours 30 €/hour).
Sauna in the yard: 30 €/2 hours (additional hours 30 €/hour).
There is room for about ten bathers in each sauna. The Suomu house and sauna can be rented in the opening hours of the Suomu nature information hut.
Payment by cash or invoice. VAT 10% is incuded in price.
Keys
The key must be picked up from and returned to the guide at Suomu Nature Information Hut.
Facilities
There are beds, mattresses, blankets and pillows in the rooms. In addition, there are extra mattresses, blankets and pillows in the house. The rooms are heated with wood. The kitchen downstairs is equipped with a gas cooker, a refrigerator, a wood-burning cooker and oven, a table and benches as well as tableware. The house has an electric lighting system (solar cell and batteries). The yard has a dry toilet, a recycling point and a well.
Notices
There are no accessible services in the hut.
The Suomu house can be rented in summer.
It is not allowed to bring pets in the hut.
In the yard of the cottage, camping and other forms of overnight stay are prohibited. The nearest camping area and fireplace can be found approximately 200 meters away.

Download the 112 Finland application (112.fi) to your phone. When an emergency call is made through the 112 Finland application, the emergency centre attendant is automatically informed of the caller's location.
It is recommended to keep the mobile phone warm and to bring extra food and water with you. There are many excursion locations with no mobile coverage and some mobile phones does not work in sub-zero temperatures, that is why it is always a good idea to let someone know about your itinerary and timetable.
Outdoor Etiquette

2. Mainly use marked trails.
3. Camp only where it is allowed.
4. Light your campfire only where it is allowed.
5. Do not litter.
