Reservable wilderness hut for 8 persons. In the same building there is a open wilderness hut. 

Booking

Hut can be booked directly at Eräluvat.fi webshop (verkkokauppa.eraluvat.fi/en/). Terms of reservation for the Hammaskuru reservable hut. The hut cannot be booked 11.-31.5. and 16.10.-30.11.

In the summer sunshine, in the middle of the forest, there is a long building with gray log walls. In the middle of the long wall is a door with stairs leading up to it. There is one window on the wall, next to which is a map board and a wooden sign. Clothes are hanging on a string between the back walls of the building and the tree.

There is a fireplace in the corner of the log-walled room, the wall behind which is covered with a non-combustible board. On the front side of the fireplace are firewoods. There is a small window on the wall, under which there is a table for the gas stove. There are pots and pans and other kitchen utensils above the window. In the left corner is the edges of the sleeping sheets in two layers. In the foreground is the corner of a wooden table with a bench underneath.

Inside the log cabin, there is a wooden sleeping bed, mattresses covered with green fabric. There are also pillows here and there on top of the mattresses. In the middle is a ladder to the upper bed. In the foreground is a wooden table.

Suitable for overnight stays for hikers and groups with good navigation skills. The hut is located in the Urho Kekkonen National Park's wilderness zone, which has no marked trails. The nearest shops and restaurants are located in Saariselkä or in Ivalo. The hut was built in 1966.

Price

16,50 € /night / person (incl. VAT 10%).

  • From the March to September is possible to stay in the hut maximum two nights in a row and from October to February maximum 7 nights in a row.
  • The hut cannot be booked 11.-31.5. and 16.10.-30.11.

Keys

Key for the hut is in a coded key box located outside at the hut door. You will receive further instructions and the code when booking.

Facilities

  • Two-tiered sleeping platforms, mattresses, pillows, a table and benches.
  • A wood-burning stove, a gas cooker, a saucepan, and a frying pan.
  • Take own candles, toilet paper and headlamp with you.
  • There is a smoke alarm in the hut, but we recommend bringing your own device with you.
  • A campfire site, a dry toilet and a woodshed.
  • Household water is taken from the river Hammasjoki.

When leaving the hut, remember that it has to be clean and ready for the next customers.
Camping is allowed in the immediate proximity to campfire site.

Notices

  • The route includes some river crossings. There are bridges by the River Suomujoki at Aitaoja, Kotaköngäs, and Porttikoski and by the River Luttojoki at Raja-Jooseppi.
  • Please note that it takes some time before the hut is properly warm.
  • Pets are not permitted in the hut.

Metsähallitus follows the principles of litter-free hiking. Visitors are adviced to bring their own waste out of the area. Read more about Hiking Without Littering and Safety on hiking. Make sure you pack a first-aid kit.
