Peukaloinen is located south of the Peukalolammi pond in the Liesjärvi National Park in the pine heath on your own.

By car: From Highway 2 (Helsinki - Pori), take the Kanteluksentie road (road sign "Liesjärvi 8" at the junction, no 13 606). The distance from Forssa to the Kanteluksentie crossroads is 21 km. Drive roughly 5.5 km along Kanteluksentie. Another track (Katavalammintie) turns left from Kanteluksentie. Take this track and drive for some 300 metres, until you reach the information board. You can park your car there. The foot path to Peukaloinen starts from the board behind the barrier. The distance from the barrier to the hut is roughly 600 metres.

By public transportation: several express coaches (expressbus.fi) travel daily along Highway 2. The nearest bus stop is located on Highway 2 at the Kyynäräntie junction. The distance from the bus stop to Peukaloinen is some 7 km. The map is needed to find the route.

60 € / day from 2 pm to noon, (incl. VAT 10 %).

Keys

Keys for the Peukaloinen reservable rental hut are available in the key cabinet located in dry toilet in the Peukaloinen courtyard. The key cabinet will open with the code that comes with the invoice.

Facilities

The hut has a heating stove, tableware, cooking utensils, candle lighting and a bunk. Please note that it takes some time before the hut is properly warm!  The yard has a toilet, woodshed and campfire site.

There are no waste collection containers at the hut, and visitors are required to take their waste away from the terrain. Read more about litter-free hiking.

Notices

The hut yard is not accessible by car. You must park your car at the information board roughly 600 metres from the hut and walk there from the hut.

The hut grounds are situated in a pine forest and, closer to the pond, the terrain becomes more marshy. Peukalolammi is a mire pool and is not user friendly for swimming. There is no official swimming spot in the area.

There is no well at the hut, so you must bring your own drinking water!

It is allowed to bring pets in the hut.

No camping is allowed on the hut grounds.
There are no accessible services in the hut.

Remember to pack a torch. We recommend a head torch which leaves your hands free for hut duties. Candles must be supervised at all times.

It is recommended to keep the mobile phone warm and to bring extra food and water with you. There are many excursion locations with no mobile coverage and some mobile phones does not work in sub-zero temperatures, that is why it is always a good idea to let someone know about your itinerary and timetable.
