Hannukuru Reservable Wilderness Hut
No more reservations can be made for 2024. Exceptionally, reservations for 2025 will only open on 26 November 2024 at 9 a.m. at Eraluvat.fi
The forested and rocky valley of Hannukuru is the true centre of the Hetta-Pallas Hiking Trail. It is located in the middle of the summer trail, close to beautiful fell heaths. The hut is ideal for Hetta-Pallas Hiking Trail hikers, who appreciate sleeping in a proper bed and want to make they get a bed place on this popular trail. During spring time, the hut can be reached on a maintained ski track. Those travelling at other times of the year must be able to find their way in extremely demanding conditions, as there is only a short amount of daylight in the winter and the weather can change very quickly.
Reservable wilderness hut, 24 persons (Hanna 12 + Hannu 12)

Facilities
The reservable wilderness hut building has two sides: Hanna and Hannu. There are bunk beds in the huts, with a total of 24 beds (12 in Hanna and 12 in Hannu). The huts have a shared drying room with a wood-burning oven.
A stove, a gas cooker, a well. Basic cookware (pot, frying pan, coffee pot). Bunk beds with mattresses, pillows and blankets. Please, take your own sheets and pillowcase to protect the bedding. In the reservable hut, hikers sleep side-by-side in bunk beds, so hikers have to be comfortable with strangers.
There is a campfire hut, two campfire sites, three dry toilets, a wood shed and a tent site near the hut. There is an open wilderness hut located 200 meters from the reservable wilderness hut. There are plenty of campsites in the tent area.
When planning camping with a large group of over 10 people, fill in a notification for Metsähallitus (metsa.fi).
There is a sauna at the small lake, situated about 150 metres from the hut. The sauna can be used for an additional fee.
Please note that it takes some time before the hut is properly warm.
Bring along your own headlamp, etc.
Notices
It is recommended to boil water from natural sources before consumption. The well at Hannukuru is closed.
The peak seasons for this hut are Easter holidays and the autumn´s ruska season. The yard area can get crowded, as it also brings in hikers from the Hetta-Pallas Trail who are only making a single stop on their hikes.
Weather conditions should be taken into account when planning a trip. Weather conditions in the wilderness can be extremely challenging. Fog or storms can form in just a few hours. Make sure that you have proper wilderness survival skills for the trek. Visitors must have appropriate equipment: warm clothing, food, drink, maps, compass, orienteering skills and matches. Take also your own toilet paper.
The firewood should only be used for heating the huts. Making campfires outdoors is prohibited if the hut does not have an official campfire site.
Pets are not permitted in the hut.
Waste Management
Metsähallitus follows the principles of litter-free hiking. Visitors are adviced to bring their own waste out of the area. Pack your food in resealable containers and bags to reduce the amount of waste you will have to carry. Recycling points can be found at Yllästunturi Visitor Centre Kellokas, Pallastunturi and Fell Lapland Visitor Centre. Read more about Hiking Without Littering.
