Keimiöjärvi, Rental Hut
No more reservations can be made for 2024. Exceptionally, reservations for 2025 will only open on 26 November 2024 at 9 a.m. at Eraluvat.fi
The hut is located on the northwest shore of Lake Keimiöjärvi, in the Pallas-Yllästunturi National Park. The hut is suitable for visitors hiking or skiing who want to reserve the entire hut for their own group. Thanks to its location, the hut is suitable for aurora borealis photographers, among others. The most popular time is winter and spring. In the winter it should be kept in mind that there is no maintained ski track by the hut.

Western Lapland Region, Municipality of Muonio, Pallas-Yllästunturi National Park
The rental hut is situated on the northwest shore of Lake Keimiöjärvi, about 17 km from Pallas and 9 km from Rauhala. The rental hut is about 4 km from Koivarova parking area.

Take road 79 (Kittilä - Muonio) and at the village of Rauhala turn onto road 9572 in the direction of Jeris. Then drive to Koivarova parking area on the boundary of Pallas-Yllästunturi National Park. From the parking area you can in the summer hike and in the winter ski the 4 km to the rental hut.
There are daily coaches between Rovaniemi, Kittilä and Muonio. Some of these coaches drive by Jeris and Koivarova parking area. Timetables (matkahuolto.fi).
Price and Keys
180 € / day or 1080 € / week (incl. VAT 10%).
Key for the hut is in a coded key box located outside at the hut door. You will receive further instructions and the code when booking.
Facilities
There is no sauna in the hut.
Wood stove heating, gas hot plate, candle lightning. Basic cookware and tableware. Matresses, pillows and blankets. NB! Please, take your own sheets and pillowcase to protect your bedding.
Outdoor campfire site, dry toilet, wood shed. The hut's campfire site is reserved for the tenant and not for use by other hikers.
Please note that it takes some time before the hut is properly warm.
Notices
It is recommended to boil water from natural sources before consumption. The water supply point is approx. 50 metres from the hut. Water can be taken from the spring or from the lake. If the spring freezes, a melted spot can be found at the shore of the lake from where the spring falls.
The water in lake Kemiöjärvi is good quality, although rain and algal blooms could have affected the water's brightness. Water quality has been tracked since 2004.
Weather conditions should be taken into account when planning an outing. Weather conditions in the wilderness can be extremely challenging. Fog or storms can form in just a few hours. Make sure that you have proper wilderness survival skills for the trek. Visitors must have appropriate equipment: warm clothing, food, drink, maps, compass, orienteering skills and matches. Take also your own toilet paper.
Pets are not permitted in the hut.
Waste Management
Metsähallitus follows the principles of litter-free hiking. Visitors are adviced to bring their own waste out of the area. There are no waste management services at the hut. Recycling points can be found at Yllästunturi Visitor Centre Kellokas, Pallastunturi and Fell Lapland Visitor Centre. Read more about Hiking Without Littering.
