Sioskuru Reservable Wilderness Hut
No more reservations can be made for 2024. Exceptionally, reservations for 2025 will only open on 26 November 2024 at 9 a.m. at Eraluvat.fi
This log hut is located right at the edge of a sheltering birch stand in the Pallas-Yllästunturi National Park. The hut is ideal for hikers on the Hetta-Pallas Trail, who appreciate sleeping in a bed and want to make sure they get a bed place on this popular trail. Seasonal times are Easter and during the autumn colours (Ruska). You can usually reach the hut on a maintained trail in spring time. Those travelling at other times must be able to hike in extremely demanding conditions, as daylight is short in winter and the weather can change suddenly.

Terms of reservation for the Sioskuru reservable hut.
Reservable huts are meant for those travelling by foot, skis or other means of physical movement. These huts may be used for 1 to 2 days by those who have reserved a bed in advance. Commercial use (i.e. guided hikes and tours etc.) of reservable huts is only allowed with special permission from Metsähallitus.
Hiking and skiing groups of partner entrepreneurs in the national park can book reservable wilderness huts on the Hetta-Pallas Hiking Trail between 1 March and 30 April two times/entrepreneur, between 1 June and 15 October three times/entrepreneur and at other times no more than six times/entrepreneur.

The wilderness hut is situated on the Hetta-Pallas Trail, 15 km from Hetta and 40 km from Pallas in the ravine between Pyhäkero Fell and Siosvaara Fell.

16,50 € / night / person (incl. VAT 10%).
Key for the hut is in a coded key box located outside at the hut door. You will receive further instructions and the code when booking.
Facilities
A stove, a gas cooker, basic cookware (pot, frying pan, coffee pot). There are a total of 8 bed places, two upper bunk beds and 6 platform beds, with places directly side-by-side. Mattresses, pillows and blankets. Please, take your own sheets and pillowcase to protect the bedding. In the reservable hut, hikers sleep side-by-side in bunk beds, so hikers have to be comfortable with strangers.
There is a campfire site, dry toilet and wood shed on the hut grounds. The building also houses an open wilderness hut for 16 persons. The grounds are rocky in some places, but there are several good campsites.
Please note that it takes some time before the hut is properly warm.
Bring along your own headlamp, etc.
Notices
The peak seasons for this hut are Easter holidays and the autumn´s ruska season.
It is recommended to boil water from natural sources before consumption. There is a stream approximately 50 metres from the hut.
Weather conditions should be taken into account when planning a trip. Weather conditions in the wilderness can be extremely challenging. In mid-winter, there are only a few hours of daylight, Fog or storms can form in just a few hours. Make sure that you have proper wilderness survival skills for the trek. Visitors must have appropriate equipment: warm clothing, food, drink, maps, compass, orienteering skills and matches. Also take your own toilet paper.
The firewood should only be used for heating the huts. Making campfires outdoors is prohibited if the hut does not have an official campfire site.
Pets are not permitted in the hut.
When planning camping with a large group of over 10 people, fill in a notification for Metsähallitus (metsa.fi).
Waste Management
Metsähallitus follows the principles of litter-free hiking. Visitors are adviced to bring their own waste out of the area. Pack your food in resealable containers and bags to reduce the amount of waste you will have to carry.
