Rental hut, 6+2 people / 30 m², 1 room, sleeping alcove and kitchen. The separate boat shed contains a sauna and a changing room with two wooden benches that can be used as extra beds if necessary.

A locked boom has been placed on the small road leading to Björkören rental hut. The boom key will be handed over to the renter with the other keys.

The hut has a colourful history, both as a hunting hideout and as a base for smugglers during the prohibition period. The hut is a good base for canoe trips as it is situated by a channel that is suitable for canoes and small watercraft.

The hut is also situated near the starting point of the 12,5 km long Björkö-Panike hiking trail. A boat is needed to cross the sound in order to reach the hiking trail. You can order a boat transportation from the partners of Parks & Wildlife Finland.

Coordinates: Euref-Fin (~ WGS84) lat: 63° 19.1645' lon: 21° 10.8573' ETRS-TM35FIN: N: 7034407 E: 208775 Driving directions Start by driving 21 km north from Vaasa along road no. 724 towards Replot. At Replot, you will reach grocery store Sale. Turn left from Sale towards Norra Vallgrund and continue for 7,4 km to Norra Vallgrund. At Norra Vallgrund, turn right towards Panike and Söderudden (road no. 7245). Continue for 20 km. Note that after about 16 km the road will turn into a dirt road after a small bridge. Drive this dirt road for about 4 km and then turn right to Vargisvägen road. At the beginning of Vargisvägen road, you will pass an unlocked gate. After the gate, there are signposts to Björkören hut.

Facilities	At the hut, there are beds for 6 persons: two bunk beds and a sofa-bed for two persons. There are mattresses, pillows and blankets. Bring your own sheets or a sleeping bag. If you use a sleeping bag, take undersheet and pillowcase with you. The hut is also equipped with a stove, cookware for 6 persons, electric lighting, coffee maker, electric water boiler and refrigerator. You must bring drinking water with you. The hut is heated with the fireplace. Sauna is located in the separate building. There is a changing room in the sauna building. Two persons can sleep on the wide benches if necessary. The changing room is heated with a wood-heated stove. In the sauna, there is a wood-heated hot-water tank in the separate washroom. You can use sea water for washing or alternatively, bring fresh water with you. Only fresh water should be poured on the sauna stove; rain water, melted snow or water you have brought. Never pour seawater into the sauna stove, because it will rust! The sauna stove is heated with wood. There is a smaller hot-water tank on the side of the sauna stove. Locked woodshed with firewood is located at the storage shed near the dry closet. There are an axe anda saw in the woodshed and visitors saw and chop their own firewood from bigger logs. There is a dry closet at the back of the yard. A rowing boat is included in the rent. Life vests are at the sauna's changing room. The low dock is also suitable for canoeists. The dock and the rowing boat are raised up for the winter and not in use then. There is a campfire site at the waterside. Waste disposal With the main huts key comes a key to a locked container at Stormossen recycling point, which is located in the Replot Sale parking lot, Vallgrundvägen 1. You can put both combustible waste and biowaste in the container. Clean paper, glass, and metal have their own containers at the recycling point.
